Workshop Overview
This 2 - day workshop will introduce Somatic Interventions that can be applied to the 8 Phases of EMDR. Somatic Psychology studies the relationship between the body and psychological states by highlighting physiological patterns as a primary foundation of human behavior. This course will review the physiology of the nervous system and how somatic interventions directly influence nervous system regulation and therapy. These somatic interventions will be explored didactically and experientially through practices including body awareness, progressive muscle relaxation, and exploration of body posturing. The weekend will include time for case discussion and application.
Required: Full Completion of an EMDRIA Approved Basic EMDR Training to participate.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

- Demonstrate at least one somatic intervention for each of the 8 Phases of the EMDR protocol
- Recognize how self - awareness of nonverbal communication increases therapist's trustworthiness and facilitates therapeutic alliance.
